Pertumbuhan Benih Bungli (Oroxylum indicum (L.) Kurz) Melalui Diferensiasi Ukuran Biji
Abstrak
Bungli (Oroxylum indicum) merupakan pohon tropis yang memiliki nilai ekologis, budaya, dan farmakologis tinggi di Asia, termasuk Indonesia. Di Jambi, khususnya kawasan Candi Muaro Jambi, tanaman ini memiliki makna historis dan spiritual serta dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan obat tradisional. Namun, keberadaannya terancam akibat eksploitasi berlebih, kerusakan habitat, serta alih fungsi lahan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di rumah kaca yang berlokasi di Jambi dengan tujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh ukuran biji terhadap vigor dan pertumbuhan awal bibit Bungli. Keberhasilan konservasi sangat dipengaruhi oleh kualitas benih, terutama vigor yang menentukan kemampuan berkecambah dan tumbuh secara optimal. Ukuran benih berhubungan erat dengan cadangan makanan yang mendukung perkembangan embrio. Benih berukuran lebih besar umumnya memiliki vigor lebih tinggi, mampu berkecambah lebih cepat, serta menghasilkan pertumbuhan bibit yang lebih baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa benih berukuran sedang (13–15 mm) dan besar (16–17 mm) menghasilkan bibit dengan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan panjang akar yang lebih unggul dibandingkan benih kecil (11–12 mm). Oleh karena itu, pemilihan ukuran benih menjadi faktor penting dalam pembibitan untuk mendukung upaya konservasi Bungli secara berkelanjutan. Penelitian lanjutan diperlukan untuk mengevaluasi pertumbuhan jangka panjang serta kandungan fitokimia bibit.
